Old Oaks Touring and Glamping Park

Glastonbury, Somerset

Old Oaks is a family run campsite, touring park and glamping destination, offering 5-star amenities in blissfully tranquil Somerset countryside with panoramic views of the Mendip hills and surrounding area.

A great place to kick back, relax and enjoy the abundant wildlife. Perfect for walking, cycling, fishing (onsite) or simply chilling.

Treat yourself to a stay at Old Oaks and discover why they recently achieved a Practical Best Adult Site 2020, VisitEngland 5 star Gold, AA Platinum Award and Top 100 Best Green Site.

Larger than average, level, landscaped pitches are laid out over 6 paddocks across 15 acres of Somerset countryside, each with individual characteristics and views. Mature trees and shrub borders create space and privacy for you to unwind.

There are 3 choices of pitch (4 from 2022): standard electric, fully serviced, super pitch, super plus (from March 2022) or premier pitch. And if camping or caravanning isn’t your thing, we offer 3 top quality choices of glamping accommodation ~ glamping pods, luxury shepherd huts and mini cedar lodges. Some even have their own private, wood-fired hot tub!

Motor caravans and RVs (up to 30ft) can use our motorhome waste disposal point.  And if you’re the unlucky one that gets the job of emptying the toilet, why not try out one of our automatic toilet cassette cleaning machines?

Two spotlessly clean, centrally heated and well-equipped amenity buildings mean no queuing at Old Oaks. Enjoy lots of free hot water, plenty of privacy shower rooms, 2 laundries, 2 dishwashing areas, ladies vanity bar, fridge and freezers for your ice-packs and free use of 2 microwaves.

There are 2 full disabled suites (one currently under refurbishment May 2021) with radar access and many thoughtful considerations for less able guests around the park.

In 2021 there’s hot food choices every evening, including fish & chips, Indian, wood-fired pizza, Chinese, burger night and hot roast Fridays!  And also new this year is our Breakfast Club, serving hot and cold yumminess 6 days a week.

The very well stocked shop and off-license offers groceries, local produce, our own free range eggs and home reared beef plus essential camping equipment and gifts to take home.  Oh, and don’t miss the daily Old Oaks cake specials.

Both free standard and premium paid wifi is available throughout the park. Shepherd hut and cedar lodge guests can enjoy premium wifi for free for the duration of their stay.

You’ll also find a tourist information room, with a book exchange, pool table, large TV and free walking and cycling maps for your convenience.

Old Oaks is a very dog friendly caravan site with a 300m, secure exercise area and even a tiled shower with warm water for your best friend to keep clean and fresh during your stay.  There’s a doggy paddling pool which comes out on hot days, doggy parking points in various locations, ‘doggy corner’ in the shop, full of toys, treats and dog food.

Close to the mythical Glastonbury Tor, Old Oaks is the perfect caravan and camping site to visit Somerset.

Entwined in Arthurian legend, Glastonbury Abbey was the grandest and richest in England and could be the king’s burial place.

Still in Glastonbury, legend holds that the Chalice of the Holy Grail was hidden in Chalice Well Gardens.

Less than 5 miles away you can visit Clarks’ retail outlet and shoe museum. Also, very close by is the beautiful tiny City of Wells; home to the beautiful Bishop’s Palace & Gardens and the majestic Wells Cathedral.

Around the hills are spectacular gorges at Ebbor and Cheddar and the amazing underground caves of Cheddar and Wookey Hole.

Many more attractions are within 30 minutes drive: Longleat Safari ParkHaynes Motor Museum, historic aircraft at The Fleet Air Arm Museum, an enchanting journey to the Somerset coast on the West Somerset Railway steam train or a trip through the Mendip Hills on the East Somerset Railway.

If birdwatching or nature are your thing, there are several nature reserves nearby, including Ham Wall, Shapwick Heath, Westhay and Greylake.

But then, there’s not need to travel anywhere. You can walk the many footpaths and cycle trails around Old Oaks, explore the diverse wildlife and bird-watching habitats or enjoy fishing the site’s well-stocked pool.
