Reopening news
We’ll soon be able to welcome you back! The Prime Minister has today announced that campsites in England can reopen on 4 July! This news follows the lowering of the Alert Level from 4 to 3 across the UK a few days ago. Campsites and Touring Parks in England may also open their shared facilities, provided they are kept clean.
In this major announcement of the easing of lockdown measures, the Prime Minister also said that social distancing in England would be reduced to 1 meter where 2 metres is not possible in England.
On Friday 19 June, the Welsh First Minister stated that caravan parks could take bookings from 13 June, although shared facilities would remain closed. Confirmation came on 29 June in the Tourism and Hospitality Business Guidance document.
Not quite ‘business as usual’
While we’re all excited to open, please be aware that the parks are not able to operate in exactly the same way as they did before the pandemic. The changes are not of the parks choosing, but are due to new policies, requirements and circumstances.
The parks we represent are small independent businesses with their own ways of operating. So please check on individual parks’ websites to find out what the changes are.
Our parks very much appreciate your support and understanding as we all adapt to the new situation and start to rebuild.
Access to shared facilities
Each park will have its own policies regarding shower and toilet blocks. Not all parks will be opening their shared facilities. Some parks are reserving shower blocks for those camping in tents or staying in accommodation that does not have ensuite facilities.
If you have toilet and washing up facilities in your caravan or motorhome, you may be required to use them.
All our parks have high standards of cleanliness and are now putting extra hygiene measures in place, while following Government guidelines on social distancing and cleaning requirements. If you have any questions, please contact the park directly.
Check-in and check-out procedures are likely to be different
Many parks will be introducing contactless check-in and check-out procedures. Please make sure you’re familiar with all the new procedures and measures before you arrive.
Essential items to take
It’s a good idea to make sure you take essential hygiene items with you such as soap, hand gel, gloves, toilet roll, disinfectant, etc.
Local Communities
Some local communities in tourist destinations are concerned about a sudden influx of visitors. Your consideration and understanding is much appreciated. Please travel prepared and with provisions so as to avoid over stretching local shops.
We hope the tough times are behind us
The pandemic has affected all our lives. For our park teams, it has been one of the hardest professional and personal challenges they’ve ever had to face! Thank you for your support as we start to rebuild.
