Plough Lane Caravan Site

Chippenham, Wiltshire

How do you describe our caravan site? The review below was left by a visitor last season and we feel it says it all ..

‘This is a lovely adult only site. The grounds are beautifully kept. The showers are really clean with nice touches such as soap, shampoo and lotion in the shower cubicles. The washing up area is gleaming and each plot has a flat gravel area as well as a lawn. The welcome folder is the most comprehensive I have ever seen anywhere and the reception has tonnes of extra information’.

50 level pitches are attractively laid out over 4 acres of landscaped grounds and are easily accessible from Cotswold stone roadways.  Each pitch is half hard standing and half grass; all have 16 amp hook-ups.  25 fully serviced pitches also have fresh water tap and grey water drain.

The 5-star heated facilities block is warm and bright with spacious showers, individual washing cubicles, hair dryers and thoughful, homely touches like hand cream and tissues.

Guests with accessibility concerns are catered for – we have ramped access to our separate disabled shower and WC and every effort is made to accommodate special requests such as being near the facilities.

You can do the washing up undercover or indoors and make use of a laundry equipped with washing machine, dryer and iron.  There’s even a free spin dryer.

There’s a supermarket nearby, village pubs serving food within walking distance and the site is well serviced by buses.  Cyclists can join the Sustrans North Wiltshire Rivers Route without using a car.

We are well situated for visiting interesting towns and villages around Wiltshire, the Cotswolds and Somerset.

Chippenham, which is just a few miles from the site, is accessible by bus and has good bus and train links to nearby places of interest.  Castle Combe and Lacock, two of the prettiest villages in England are both within 10 minutes drive of the site.

The World Heritage City of Bath is 10 miles away and has a good Park & Ride.  Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge and several shopping malls are all within walking distance from the centre.  You could also take the spa waters!

Bristol is also close by.  It’s attractions include Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge over the Avon Gorge, the Maritime Heritage Centre and Docks and the SS Great Britain.

After a city visit it’s nice to settle back into the Wiltshire countryside.  Highlights include the market town of Devizes and the nearby Kennet & Avon Canal with its iconic flight locks at Caen Hill part of the 29 lock Devizes flight.

The stone circle at Avebury makes another excellent day out. Avebury is regarded as one of the most important prehistoric monuments in England while nearby Silbury Hill still baffles the experts!

From Avebury there’s a scenic hill walk on the Ridgeway (an ancient track along the Marlborough Downs) and walks to giant while horses carved into the Wiltshire hills.

There are so many places to choose for a day out – here are some of the most popular; many National Trust Gardens and Houses, some members of Historic Houses including Bowood House (Calne),  Atwell Motor Museum (Calne), Great Western Designer Outlet Village (Swindon), STEAM Museum (Swindon), Corinium Museum and Roman Villa (Cirenceter) and the National Arboreteum (Westonbirt).

Don’t worry – when you arrive on site you will be lent our welcome pack which has a tourism guide so you can unwind and relax on your pitch planning the goods things you can do during your stay at Plough Lane Caravan Site.
