Woodland Springs Touring Park is the only AA 5 Pennant Gold adult only caravan park and campsite in the beautiful Dartmoor National Park in Devon. Its delightfully peaceful, central location is ideal for exploring DartmoorDevon and the South West.

Owners, Peter and Fiona offer guests a warm welcome with high-grade facilities in harmony with the lovely countryside and wildlife habitats that surround the open all-year park.

 

 

Set in the hamlet of Venton, Devon, Woodland Springs is 1.5 miles from the A30 with easy access for caravans and motor caravans.

Mature trees and shrubs shelter the site which offers fully serviced hard standings and all grass pitches with and without electric hook-ups, camping pods are also available.

The heated amenities buildings are regularly featured in the Loo of the Year awards with Platinum Awards for 2019. Both blocks have individual showers, wash basins, WC’s and dishwashing whilst the main block includes 2 private shower rooms equipped with WC and wash basin along with 2 fully equipped disabled suites. Showers are free and there’s ample hot water for the washing up areas. The laundry room is situated in the main block.

There’s a freezer for your convenience along with a coffee machine in our information kiosk (the coffee machine can be found in the Laundry during the cold months). There is on-site fresh baking during summer.

Woodland Springs is a dog-friendly site with a 1-acre fully fenced exercise area to allow you to give your dog a good run off lead. There is also a warm water dog shower available free of charge so there is no need for any more muddy paws in your clean caravan or motorhome!

There is a small shop/off-license for groceries and locally produced Devon food and drinks. Woodland Springs is also a Calor gas stockist.

There is a butcher and grocery stores amongst other varied shops at Chagford and newspapers can be collected from Whiddon Down.

Good food is served at The Post Inn, Taw River Inn, Fingle Bridge Inn, Sandy Park Inn and The Drewe Arms, all within a few moments’ drive with the Post Inn being walkable in about 20 to 30 minutes. There are many more pubs and eateries in the area ranging from good honest pub grub to Michelin starred dining.

Woodland Springs Park is quiet and secure, though for your peace of mind we have a security barrier.  Peter and Fiona (owners) and Peter and Marina (site wardens) are always available to help in any way we can.

There are so many activities to enjoy around Dartmoor and Devon; walking, cycling, canoeing, fishing, horse-riding, golf, swimming, bird watching and an endless list of attractions to visit.

 

Walkers can take in country views along the lanes around the park, follow the Teign river valley to the inn at Fingles Bridge or tackle one of the Tor walks a few miles from the park.

 

Within walking distance from the camp site are Castle Drogo, Stone Lane Gardens, Fingle Woods and Spinster’s Rock, a Neolithic burial chamber, which like many other relics and sightings are part of the Dartmoor legend and folklore.

 

Woodland Springs is your gateway to the Dartmoor National Park, it’s dramatic, often remote scenery, crystal clear waterfalls at Lydford GorgeBecky Falls with rivers that trip between boulders on their way to the coast. The River Teign rises around Fernworthy Reservoir, a favourite walking and picnic spot which includes a route for disabled visitors.

 

There are miles of open pasture, sheep, ponies and a multitude of wildlife.

Wooded valleys shelter picturesque towns like ChagfordWiddicombe-in-the-MoorMoretonhampsteadBovey TracyBuckfastleigh and many more.

Along the way you’ll find historic inns serving local Devon fare.

Across Dartmoor are hundreds of ancient monuments, some thousands of years old.

There are many festivals and fairs on and around Dartmoor throughout the year for you to enjoy.

A short drive South from Woodland Springs is The English Riviera, renowned South Devon resorts and beaches. Along the coast the rivers that rise on Dartmoor reach the sea in the beautiful Teign, Dart and Exe estuaries.

At the head of the Exe estuary is the Cathedral City of Exeter, just 18 miles from the caravan site with much to see and do as well as shopping.

Close to the park are the National Trust properties of Castle DrogoFinch Foundry and The Church House.

Heritage Railways operate in Devon at Okehampton, Buckfastleigh to Totnes, and Paignton to Kingswear.

Directions

Woodland Springs Post Code is EX6 6PG just 18 miles West of Exeter and 8 miles East of Okehampton.

Coming from either East or West along the A30, turn off at the Whiddon Down junction and follow the A382 towards Moretonhampstead, this is also signposted Services. DO NOT follow signs for Drewsteignton. Continue to the next roundabout (do not turn left down Turnpike Road even if your Sat Nav says as it is now closed to through traffic) and turn left still following the A382 towards Moretonhampstead. About 1 mile (1.6 km’s) from the roundabout you will see the small signpost to Venton with the familiar touring park brown sign, turn left here. Be careful as the signpost is actually just after the turning. We are the second drive on the left. Proceed down the drive and report to the reception which is on your left as you enter the site just before the security barriers.

Woodland Springs is signposted on the A382 with brown tourist caravan signs and the site name when you come from the A30 and from the Chagford, Moretonhampstead direction.
