Making dogs welcome at Tranquil Parks

Do you like to take your four-legged family members on holiday? Being able to take them with you is what makes touring, camping or glamping so enjoyable for so many of our guests.

That’s why almost all Tranquil Parks welcome dogs. And some have really gone the extra mile to make sure every possible canine need is catered for.

Our parks expect doggie guests to be well behaved, and you’ll have to keep them on a short lead around the pitches. But many parks have a designated dog exercise area where they can run free.

There’s so much on offer for dogs that we can’t include everything, so here are some highlights from our parks…

Dogs stay for free

These parks would like you to know about their no charge policy for dogs:

  • Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park, NE Somerset – up to 2 per pitch  (more details below)
  • Killiwerris Touring Park, Cornwall – max 2 per pitch
  • Greenacres Touring Park, Somerset – up to 3 dogs per pitch free of charge
  • Grooby’s Pit, Lincolnshire – dogs are free of charge on touring pitches (max 3)

 

South Wales doggie facilities

South Wales Touring Park at Llwynifan Farm near Llanelli has plenty to keep them happy:

  • Enclosed dog exercise field, and from the park you can go along the River Dog Walk 45 mins(ish) circular walk
  • Doggie shower – a raised area, with tepid water (pre-set at 35°C)
  • Pet treat – on arrival your dog will have a pet treat in the welcome bag made by My Pet Treats
  • Poop bag – in your welcome pack you will also receive Green poop bag.

Overbrook has the perfect welcome

Overbrook Caravan Park installed a dog shower area in 2022. It’s ideal for pups that get mucky exploring the may dog friendly walks in the area, fromt the North York Moors to the beaches. All doggie guests receive a ‘Dog Welcome Pack’. This includes chews, dog waste bags and a very useful identity tag which which can put on the collar for the duration of ther stay in case theey get lost. The park owners ask guests to return the tag on departure so that it can be reused, and in return they receive a tennis ball! Dog treats are also on sale in the shop.

Making a splash at Old Oaks

In 2022 Old Oaks Touring & Glamping Park not only opened a 3-acre dog field, but they also put a dog swimming pond in it! In hot weather they also provide a doggy paddling pool on the 300 metre dog walk. You’ll find plenty of treats for dogs in the onsite shop, including ice cream, but raw dog food is no longer available. You’ll also find a dog shower with hot water and free shampoo, plus  a washing machine and dryer just for dog bedding.

 

 

Fields End Water agility course and circular route

Does your dog like a challenge? There’s something a bit different at Field End Water Caravan Park, Lodges & Fishery in Cambridgeshire: a dog agility course in the ‘off-the-lead’ area. There’s also a new 2km circular walk right around the park which is mapped and signposted. Starting and finishing at the cafe, it takes you past all three lakes, through the woods and into open fenland, as well as the area where dogs can run off the lead.

Red Kite welcomes dogs of all sizes

All well behaved dogs are welcome at Red Kite Touring Park in Powys. The park has a 10-acre dog walk which includes a swimming pond just for dogs and also a secure run area. For the muddy pups, the park also has a free-to-use-groomer standard dog wash with temperature controlled shower and a dog hairdryer (shown above). The Red Kite Team always promise to have a pocket full of dog treats to keep their four-legged guests happy!

 

Great walkies at Green Acres

Cumbria is a wonderful place for dog walking and at Green Acres Caravan Park there’s an exercise field as well as a woodland walk that leads to a public footpath. The park now has dog beds and complimentary treats in the sports hall.

 

Back of Beyond is as dog friendly as ever

Back of Beyond Touring Camping & Glamping Park in Dorset continues to be very dog friendly with many facilities for dogs. These include the park’s own 18-acre woodland which provides a super-sized dog exercise area with ample walking routes.

Being located close to the New Forest and South Coast, there’s plenty of choice for dog walks in the local area.  If they get muddy or sandy, you can give them a warm shower in the dog wash. Good doggies get rewarded with ice cream and special treats in the reception shop. Need accommodation? Dogs can stay in certain glamping units too.

New supplies at Two Mills Touring Park

They are now stocking dog supplies in the shop at Two Mills Touring Park in Norfolk. These include poo bags, toys, treats and some accessories. The park also provides a dog friendly list in the tourist information section that tells you all about which beaches have restrictions for dogs, and local dog friendly pubs and restaurants.

 

Delph Bank’s historic dog walk

The picturesque onsite dog walk at Delph Bank Touring Park in Lincolnshire is a bit different. Covering 2 acres, the walk follows the route of the old Fleet Light Railway line, passing through beautiful fenland countryside. It even has the original platform dating back to circa 1910. Now that the park has a new shop for 2023, you won’t have to go far for doggie treats.

Grooby’s Pit dog update

One small-medium sized dog can stay in the new glamping unit at Grooby’s Pit in Lincolnshire, Squirrel Hideaway, for £10 per night. The park has a fully fenced dog exercise area where they can be let off the lead, and there’s a policy of one customer at a time to prevent any noisy shenanigans. Dogs must be on a short lead at all times when not inside their unit or the dog exercise area. Certain breeds are not allowed – please be sure to check the Ts&Cs when booking. Guests also need to be aware that there are normally free range chickens running around (restrictions were keeping them inside at the time of writing). The indoor dog shower has warm water and a ramp for easy access.

 

Tail wagging holidays at Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park

As we’ve mentioned above, up to two dogs can stay for free per pitch. The park is located in a great area for dog walking between the dog friendly community of Bishop Sutton and Chew Valley Lake, and close to the Mendip Hills. Here’s a quick guide to the facilities full details are on the website:

  • On-site dog walk extends 150m along two sides of the caravan park with two entrances for guests’ convenience
  • Waste bags and bins at dog walk entrances
  • Drinking bowls provided
  • The dog-friendly Red Lion Inn is a few minutes’ walk from the park
  • Free guides to dog-friendly attractions and local walks on the park’s online information kiosk
  • Dog and cat foods available in the village store, a few minutes’ walk from the park (an emergency supply is available in reception)
  • Veterinary Services are available in Chew Magna (3 miles)

 

Killiwerris has dog friendly accommodation

Many Cornish beaches and pubs are dog friendly, and so is the accommodation at Killiwerris Touring Park in Cornwall. In addition to the dog friendly touring park, pets can stay in the annex and static caravan.

Dog pod and more at Longnor Wood

Longnor Wood Holiday Park near the Peak District in Derbyshire has a 4-acre dog walk with wonderful views. If you’re looking for accommodation, dogs can stay in the Yew pod, in 3 of the static caravans and 4 of the lodges. The park aslo has a dog wash and introduced a ‘doggy corner’ to the shop.

Lamb Cottage caters for all doggie needs

Canine companions have plenty of opportunity to stretch their legs at Lamb Cottage touring park in Cheshire. The enclosed woodland-style dog walk runs across the back of the park. There’s also a heated dog wash and dog water bowls around the park to make sure four-legged visitors don’t get too thirsty. A dog friendly and highly rated pub, The Plough Inn, is within walking distance from the park, and the Blue Cap pub is just a short drive away.

 

Woodland Springs’ ultimate dog days

At Woodland Springs Touring Park in Dartmoor, Devon, there’s an enclosed field on site where they can run off the lead, or you can try out the all-weather dog agility area with professional quality equipment. There is a maximum of three dogs per pitch here. 

The Dartmoor National Park and the Teign Valley offer plenty of great walks. And after a hard day’s exploring, there’s an all-purpose dog shower and treats in the shop.

Exercise area and luxury accommodation at Eye Kettleby Lakes

There’s a dog run at Eye Kettleby Lakes Touring Park near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. The 3-acre exercise area is next to the park’s touring sites, so guests can let their dogs run off the lead.

The park also has dog washing facilities on both touring sites, while in the clubhouse everyone’s catered for. There’s a dog friendly side with fresh water, where humans can enjoy breakfast, lunch or a piece of cake. In the clubhouse convenience shop you’ll find dog food, treats, poo bags, etc., along with essentials like milk, eggs and bread.

If you don’t have a holiday home on wheels, how about a dog friendly luxury glamping pod with a fenced garden? Alternatively there are luxury lodges with a gated patio area and complementary dog biscuits!

Take your dog along the local public footpaths from the park and you can get to Melton Mowbray (3 miles) or a local farm shop (1.5 miles).

More dog friendly Tranquil Parks

We’ve only been able to highlight a few dog friendly options here, but you’ll find that all Tranquil Parks welcome dogs. Hallsdown Farm Touring Park in Devon, however, is a working sheep farm and therefore a dog-free zone.
