The flower show has been a regular feature of Taunton’s summer since 1831.
Taunton Flower Show is held in Vivary Park in Taunton. The centre piece of the show are the large competitive classes and floral classes marquees.
The competitive classes are open to all and consist of approximately 250 different classes for amateur gardeners, crafters, floral artists and children.
The floral marquee features traders who mount show displays of their flowers and plants. Around the marquees are a wide range of horticultural traders.
The centre of the park is an arena where events such as marching bands, dog displays, dramatic motor bike events etc take place.
The show also features other smaller marquees – we have a bees and honey show and a wine show. The show also has a children’s zone where our younger visitors can be entertained. For more information please click here.

Wellington Carnival 27th September
Visit Somerset 1
According to the Wellington Weekly of 1887 “this year has witnessed the revival of the Guy Fawkes celebrations.
In fact it is stated it is 27 years since anything like the celebrations of Friday last was witnessed in Wellington” It goes on to outline the events of Friday 4th November 1887.
“Friday being an early closing evening with shopkeepers and Saturday a late one. In accordance with instructions issued by the committee, those who intended to take part in the carnival assembled near Shute Leigh to form the procession” this was recorded as the chief feature of the evening.
There were Masqueraders and torch bearers, lead by the town band, as the procession passed crowds of sightseers along the route.
Details of individual entries are given and the procession ended with a lighted tar barrel as was the custom at several Carnivals of the day. Click here to find out more.
