Update 8 April – shared facilities in England

The Government has announced that shared toilet and washing facilities may reopen before 17 May providing certain conditions are met. Follow this link to view the announcement.

Since Tranquil Parks are independently owned and run, it’s up to each individual park to decide how to proceed, depending on the configuration of shower blocks and staffing. For information on where toilet facilities will be open, see our Welcome back news item.

 

Update 19 March 2021 – campsites in Wales

Our parks in Wales will open on Saturday 27 March to people from Wales with self-contained units. They are taking bookings from people in England from 12 April. Facilities may possibly be allowed to open on 17 May – the same date as for English sites.

Mark Drakeford, the Welsh First Minister, announced on BBC news on 12 March that touring parks in Wales could be open to people from Wales with self-contained units by the end of the month.

Update 22 February 2021 – campsites in England could be allowed to reopen on 12 April

As part of the 4-step plan announced by the Prime Minister today to ease the country out of lockdown, we believe that campsites and touring parks could be among the ‘outdoor hospitality’ businesses allowed to reopen on 12  April. We are awaiting confirmation on whether this is the case.

This is the second step of the four-step reopening plan and will depend on favourable COVID data. Shower blocks will not be open until step 3, due to take place on 17 May.

Limits on social contact will remain in force until 21 June, the scheduled date for step 4.

Please bear in mind that it is up to individual Tranquil Parks when they decide to open.  Parks in Wales are subject to a different set of restrictions and are awaiting an announcement on 12 March.

Update 5 January 2021 – national lockdown announcement

The Prime Minister has announced a national lockdown. As everyone has been instructed to stay at home in order to control the virus, protect the NHS and save lives, all our parks are closed until further notice.

Update 31 December – formal tiering review for England

Following the formal tiering review on 30 December 2020, more areas have moved into tier 4 and almost all remaining areas have moved up into tier 3. This means our parks will now be closed until further notice.

Update 23 December – more areas move into higher Tiers with tighter restrictions

From 26 December, much of the South East of England will move into tier 4, the Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock announced today. Many other areas are moving into higher tiers.  The new virus variant is more transmissible and another new strain from South Africa has been detected.  See See the announcement in full.

This means that parks in Tiers 3 and 4 have closed or are closing. In light of the situation, most parks in Tier 2 will also be closing shortly after Christmas. Parks that are closing earlier than planned are contacting guests to reorganise their stays. As always, they are grateful for your support as we all navigate a way through this unprecedented situation.

Update 21 December – new virus strain and tightening of restrictions

On Saturday 19 December the Government announced a new Tier 4 with ‘stay at home’ advice for people in the areas of the South East that had just gone into Tier 3. This is due to a new variant of the virus which is spreading faster. In addition, the advice for people in Tiers 1-3 changed to ‘stay local’. The ‘Christmas bubble’ window was reduced to 24 and 25 December.

This means that parks in Tier 3 that closed but were planning to open for the Christmas period are less likely to do so. A few parks remain open in Tier 2.

In Wales, all parks were ordered to close on Saturday evening and all have done so.

Update 17 December – Tiers reviewed in England

The Government has announced that more areas will go into Tier 3 from Saturday 19 December. London went into Tier 3 yesterday. The areas are Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Peterborough, Hertfordshire and Surrey (except Waverly). Hastings and Rother, Portsmouth, Havant and Gosport also go into Tier 3. Bristol and North Somerset move down from Tier 3 to Tier 2. Herefordshire will from from Tier 2 to Tier 1.

Update 16 December – Higher-level restrictions for Wales

Touring parks in Wales must close on 28 December. This was in the Welsh Government announcement today introducing higher-level restrictions to control coronavirus. The affected parks will contact people with bookings to help them re-arrange their stay.

Update 4 December – Clarification on Christmas bubbles and getaways

The Government has published some clarification on making a ‘Christmas bubble’ with friends and family over the Christmas period.

Caravan Parks in Tier 3 have been advised that they can open from 22 December for people to arrive. Guests can then form a Christmas bubble if required until the 27th, and then leave on the 28th.

Parks in Wales have just been told that they can now allow visitors from Tiers 1 & 2 in England! We’re looking for an official announcement about this.

 

Update 30 November – Wales

The Welsh Government announced new restrictions on 27 November which will take effect from 4 December. Details released today state that travel out of Wales is only allowed under limited circumstances such as work or education. If you do not live in Wales you may only return to Wales to collect belongings and secure your caravan for the winter. You are not permitted to stay overnight.

Update 26 November – new restriction tiers for England

The UK Government has announced the tier system that will apply when the lockdown is lifted on 2 December. The tiers will be reviewed after 14 days on 16 December.

26 Tranquil Parks were hoping to reopen after lockdown in England and 2 have already reopened in Wales.  A total of 27 parks were planning to be open for the Festive Period. All Tranquil Parks in England that were planning to reopen are in tiers 2 or 3.

The parks in tier 3 will not be reopening on 2 December (unless they are accommodating key workers or have a special reason).

  • If you live in a tier 2 area, you can travel to a park in tier 2.
  • If you have a booking with a park in tier 3, the park will contact you. You should avoid travel to tier 3 areas for overnight stays unless necessary for work, education, medical treatment, etc.
  • If you live in tier 3 and have a booking with a park in tier 2, the park will contact you. You should avoid travelling to other parts of the UK for overnight stays unless necessary for work, education, medical treatment, etc.

Update 9 November – Parks in Wales reopen

The parks in Wales that have not closed for the season have reopened. If you live in England you cannot visit until the English lockdown is lifted.

 

Update 31 October – England goes into second lockdown

The Prime Minister has today announced new restrictions. The parks in England that have not yet closed for the season will be temporarily closing from 4 November. The lockdown is due to be lifted on 2 December. The parks will be contacting those with bookings during this period to discuss their options. If you need to contact a park, please email. Update 23 October – Wales ‘firebreak’ lockdown

After several areas of Wales going into lockdown, affecting parks in the Llanelli and Conwy areas, the Welsh Government has announced a ‘firebreak’ lockdown for the whole of Wales from 6pm Friday 23 October until 12:01 am Monday 9 November.

 

Update 16 October – new regulations for Wales

New regulations take effect from 6pm: If you live in Tier 2 or Tier 3 in England, the Central Belt of Scotland or Northern Ireland, you will not be allowed to travel to Wales.

 

Update 25 July – Communal facilities in Wales

Parks in Wales are now allowed to open communal facilities.

Update 22 June 2020 – Wales

Following the First Minister’s announcement on Friday 19 June that self contained accommodation could be booked from 13 June, we are waiting for clarification on how this will be applied to our parks in Wales.

 

Update 1 June 2020 – Wales

Here’s an update on the situation in Wales from The Willows, Abersoch:

The four UK nations have different Government regulations. The latest Welsh Gov announcement on 28 May said that Wales will be on lockdown for another three weeks. Local residents can now travel up to 5 miles locally to visit one other family or friend , this must be outside and staying 2m apart .

Wales is still closed to all other UK residents. The R rate is only just peaking in some parts of the country. The next Welsh Government review will be in another 21 days.

This means bookings for June are now frustrated. If you have a booking for June, your park will be contacting you or you can contact them by email. Parks are taking bookings for later in the season and The Willows are not asking for any commitment due to the continued uncertainty.

 

Update 18 May 2020 – Q&As

Are you looking forward to taking a break with your caravan, motorhome, campervan or tent? For now, all campsites and touring parks are temporarily closed. We can’t wait to welcome you back, but please don’t make any unnecessary trips until we’re told it’s safe to do so. Our parks need to prioritise the safety of their staff and local communities at present.

If you are thinking of making a trip, please be sure to plan ahead and follow Government advice. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions which we hope you’ll find helpful.

Can I go to a campsite on holiday now?

No. Campsites and touring parks are not allowed to open at present. Overnight stays away from home are not permitted.

When can I book a holiday for?

Last week the UK Government published its COVID-19 Recovery Strategy in the document Our Plan to Rebuild.  Step Three, (page 31), to open hospitality businesses in England states “Will be no earlier than 4 July, subject to the five tests…, and further detailed scientific advice, provided closer to the time, on how far we can go.”  For our parks in Wales, we’re expecting the Welsh Government to announce a later opening date.

How will I know when parks in the Tranquil Parks group open?

Please check the News section of our website, our Facebook page, Twitter account and Instagram with the latest information. Individual parks will also publish updates on their own websites and social media.

What if I have a holiday booked before 4 July or travel restrictions are extended?

It is unlikely that you’ll be able to take this holiday. The park that you have booked with will be contacting you, or you can contact them by email. Our parks being as flexible as they can in these challenging times.

Is it safe to go on a camping or caravan holiday while Coronavirus is still in the UK?

It’s widely accepted that being outside in nature is good for our wellbeing and mental health, and that outdoor settings are less risky than indoor ones. Larger pitches enable social distancing. The owners of campsites and touring parks are preparing to ensure that shared facilities can be used safely.

Touring parks do not yet know what the requirements for opening will be, however. So they don’t know exactly how and when they’ll be able to open. They might have to operate shared facilities like shower blocks and shops in a more limited way, or keep them closed. They might introduce contactless check-in, for example.

Whatever happens, please remember that you are responsible for:

  • Making sure you understand the Government’s guidance
  • Abiding by the regulations
  • Deciding whether or not it is safe for you to go on holiday
  • Determining how best to practice social distancing

 

Update 12 May 2020

All our parks remain closed and our management teams are missing you!

Following the Prime Minister’s announcements on Sunday 10 May, we understand that campsites and touring parks in England will not be permitted to open until July at the earliest. This is not definite and will depend on a number of factors. This does not apply to parks in Wales. We will keep updating this page when we have more information.

All of our parks have been inundated with enquiries. Please be aware that they may be unable to answer the phone and email is the best way to get in touch.

Update 25 March 2020

All Tranquil Parks are now closed or in the process of closing.

On Monday 23 March, the Government provided guidance on essential travel, which does not include trips to campsites and caravan parks.  Most of our member parks had announced closure before this advice, however. The parks will remain closed until they have been informed that it’s safe for people to travel again.

We know how much you love your stays at Tranquil Parks, so cancelling your holidays has been very difficult, but we all understand that there are bigger concerns right now. As independent businesses, the owners of our member parks are very grateful for your support. They’re very busy right now rescheduling bookings.

Please be aware that parks may not be able to answer phone calls and email is a better way to get in touch. Please check parks’ individual websites or announcements for information on next steps.
