Spring blossoms around Chew Valley with traditional Somerset May bank holiday celebrations.
May Day is the start to Bristol’s month-long ‘Walking Festival’. 170 guided walks for you to explore
the city’s history, Avon Gorge and the surrounding countryside, including the pilgrim’s trail from Bristol to Glastonbury Tor.
Roman Bath is the classic city. It offers a different experience for every season, even every visit. Bath’s Abbey, The Roman Baths and Pulteney Bridge are just a part of the Bath story.

The city transforms through spring and summer. You can picnic on the Crescent lawns while hot air balloons whisk tourists into the sky, stroll on the banks of the River Avon or dine out, continental style, as city bistro-café s spill out onto the walkways.
Bath’s ‘Party in the City’ is May’s headline event, Friday May 15th. This city-wide free music party is an overture to Bath International Music Festival. 2000 musicians will perform during the two week musical celebration. Bath Party night centres on Abbey Square, while 43 other venues also host an evening of live music.

There’s no time like springtime to experience the Somerset countryside around Chew Lake nature reserve and the truly spectacular views from the surrounding lanes and footpaths.
Bath’s heritage bridle paths and former railway lines form an amazing network of cycle trails and footpaths following the River Avon to Bristol and the beautiful Kennet Valley.
Somerset’s premier countryside event, The Royal Bath & West Show, takes place at the Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, 27 – 30 May. The show is a true celebration of Somerset life through an extensive programme of events, awards and crafts. Somerset milliners will be setting out to rival Windsor for Ladies Day, Friday May 29th.
